We are a community of creative, caring, and compassionate people. The Pride Center knows that although our community is BIG in spirit, we can feel small and not as connected. Below are a list of social support groups and community groups to increase our sense of belonging!

Community Supports

Capital Bears is an inclusive group which focuses on providing the LGBTQIA+ community a safe and accepting social network.

Central Iowa Polyamory is a group is intended to provide for polyamorous social events in the Des Moines Iowa area.

The Des Moines Men’s Chorus is more than a choral organization—it's a heartfelt dedication to supporting and promoting the LGBTQ+ community through the transformative medium of "music that matters."

The First Friday Breakfast Club (FFBC) was founded in Des Moines in 1996. What began as a few friends deciding to meet regularly for breakfast soon grew into Iowa’s largest breakfast club.

Capital City Pride is a 501(c)(3) organization that brings together the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender and queer community along with their friends, allies, and supporters.

Central Iowa Rainbow Families is a community support and connection for LGBTQIA+ members, families, and allies; with so many wonderful ways to get involved and build connection!

Iowa Safe Schools provides comprehensive support and resources to LGBTQ youth, educators, administrators, and helping professionals, and the families and community members of LGBTQ youth.

IQCCC uses an intersectional lens to address the inequity of services, lack of support and space, socioeconomic disparities, and institutional racism experienced by our communities through education, advocacy, intentional inclusivity and organizing.

Lesbians of Iowa (#loia) is a community of 18+ queer women, gender non-conforming and trans-folk. The primary mission of this group is to be an open, affirming and safe place for queer folk from Iowa looking for community, support and friendship.

The Pride Sports League is continually evaluating the interests of our participants, we are open to adding any sport or activity that will have enough interest to facilitate.

The sisters have dedicated themselves to providing community service, promoting equality for all, and offering a ministry to those who are in need of expressing their individuality and uniqueness. It is the desire of the Priory to use our wisdom, humor, and frivolity to educate those attempting to promote bigotry and guilt that would “de-flower” and destroy our community.

The Q Exchange is a non-profit 501(c)3 LGBTQIA+ youth and family organization providing individuals in the community a place to gather and connect.

In here we intend to foster meaningful conversation, fun and engaging posts, progressive ideas, and opportunities for activism.

The Transgender Action Group is a social justice group that supports the trans community in Iowa. This page is associated with the First Unitarian Church of Des Moines.
